This Crazy Fun Race Season!!

29 07 2008

Hey everyone! we haven’t been keeping up on the website verywell I suppose. Sorry about that. We have been extremly busy with racing sponsors, shows, family and friends. This year seems to be very hectic. We have had many friends get engaged and get married so it’s hard to get some riding time in. But congrats to all of them!! You are all very important to us!

Here’s an update on our racing!

Our last race was a double header at Hixton. It was great. On Sat. Carley took first in Womens and said she LOVED the track. She ended up an impressive 3rd overall. Mat and Ben both had great races. Mat finished 5th an Ben finished 6th. On Sunday, Carley took another first place finish and she says that she had a great time. Mat had a bad start. An o-ring on his float had stuck and his bike didn’t want to start. When it finally did start, he was starting after all the classes had already passed. I guess it pays to get angry before the race because he rode his but off to an impressive 4th place and was 30 seconds behind third place!!! WOW!

We have been running some GNCC’s and we are loving every minute of it!! So far we have traveled to Sparta, KY and Yadkinville, NC. Our next GNCC trip is to Snowshoe WV!!!! We are psyched!!! We are looking for more sponsors for next year and with more determination and support we can make it happen. We’ll keep everyone up to date!

Crystal Falls, MI

Carley Graduated Saturday, so the team only made it up for the second day of the double header. We arrived early sunday morning. It was a cool windy day in the U.P.

Carley took off in the morning class and took off. After two laps had a huge lead and she stayed on the gas the whole race. By the time it was over she had lapped all the other women riders. After the race she was kind of upset that her course was so short and she put in plenty of laps.

I was on the front line for the afternoon race and was ready to do battle with the field. The course started out with a 1 mile long sand moto track followed by some fast open woods before we hit any single track.

The track wasn’t bad but early in the race I noticed my bike not handling normal at all. Finally I pulled over after every rider in my class had passed me. The top sub frame bolt had backed out and wasn’t holding the frame together.

After a quick pitstop in the cold rain an wind I was off to try and catch the field. That would not be the case as I would finish 5th one lap behind the leaders.

Aztalan

18 06 2008

After Not racing until now we are all way over due for seeing friends, talking bikes, and riding a new course.

Aztalan however wasn’t much different from last seasons course but for us it was a change.

Carley started out the day racing Women’s class. At the start she had the holeshot and looked to be off to a fast pace. Back in the woods she managed to catch some slow 65cc riders and got caught up in a mud hole. She was then caught and had to bettle for the lead for the first couple of laps. After tiring out her competition, she checked out and was gone.

I was the only rider in the afternoon from the team riding at Aztalan. The start was nothing like Carley’s as my bike didn’t fire on one kick so the field was in turn 1 while I left the starting line.

This is really what I needed though as it fired me up to ride hard the whole way through 2 hours. By the 3rd turn I caught the field of riders and charged my way through. Everything went perfect after one lap I was on the leader and on the third lap made the pass for the lead. Battleing for the lead for the next few laps until we were stuck in a bottleneck on the bottom of a hill. The top 4 fastest riders just sat with nowhere to go. The bottleneck killed all my timing and I had to regroup but still only managed a 4th place finish. But a solid start to the season.

NO Race

15 04 2008

Round 1 of the District 16 Hare Scrambles was cancelled. After all the preperations for the MUD I received an email friday morning that the track was under water and we would not be able to ride.

The only good part about no race is more practice before Round 2 at Aztalan on April 27th. Hopefully NO MORE RAIN!!
